The family members of West Covina firefighter John Brian Mananghaya Aguila contacted West Covina police on Aug. 24 after not hearing from him for multiple days.

According to the family, Aguila did not report to his job with the Bureau of Land Management or return home since Thursday, which they say is very uncharacteristic of him.

During their investigation, police learned that Aguila’s white 2017 Honda Civic had been located and impounded in the city of San Dimas.

Investigators found video surveillance that showed a male, that was determined not to be Aguila, leaving from the car and walking away.

Gloves and blood-covered clothing were discovered inside of the Honda by investigators — along with fingerprints of a man that led police to an address in La Verne.

On Tuesday morning, the West Covina PD SWAT team served a search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of Third Street in La Verne.

Three people inside the residence were detained pending further investigation.

Elijah Thomas Rouse, 18, and Shaun Cardarelli, 37, were taken into custody five days after John Brian Mananghaya Aguila, 28, went missing, Fox 11 reported.

Surveillance video shows a man identified as someone other than Aguila abandoning the car, investigators said, according to Fox 11.

Both suspects are being held on $1 million bail.

What was happening at that apartment??

West Covina police investigating the suspicious disappearance of a 28-year-old resident searched a La Verne apartment on Tuesday and detained three people.

Police said one of them is a male whose fingerprints matched the prints found in the car of the missing West Covina man. He was also captured in surveillance video abandoning the car in San Dimas. Another is a female who jumped from a second-story window, broke her arm and tried to run from police, West Covina Police spokesman Cpl. Rudy Lopez said. Paramedics treated her injuries.
