A Woodland man has been found guilty of sexually molesting a 2-year-old boy.

After 10 hours of deliberation over two days, a Yolo County jury on Thursday convicted John "Tim" Ganthner, 46, of two felony counts of sexual assault of a child younger than 10 years old, four felony counts of physical abuse of a child and three additional enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on a child younger than 5, according to a Yolo County District Attorney's Office news release.​

John "Tim" Ganthner, 46, of Woodland, was convicted of child molestation on March 28, and was sentenced in a Yolo County courtroom to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to police, Ganthner was left alone to watch the 2-year-old grandson of Ganthner's live-in girlfriend back in August 2011. When Ganthner's girlfriend returned home, the woman noticed the child had severe injuries to his private area and chest.
