San Diego County Sheriff Asks for Public’s Help in Locating At-Risk Missing Person Jose Martinez, Last Seen in El Cajon

August 19, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Thursday, August 17, 68-year-old Jose Martinez was reported missing from a care facility in incorporated El Cajon.
Martinez was last seen at the care facility around 9:00 p.m. by staff. Deputies from the Lakeside Sheriff’s Substation responded to the care facility and began checking the area for the missing man.
Jose Martinez is described as a Hispanic man standing about 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 143 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Martinez has several medical conditions and requires medication.
A Sheriff's Command Post has been established at the Awaken Church located at 950 North Second Ave in El Cajon. The Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) Unit has also been activated. SAR Volunteers responded and searched the area throughout the night.
