LOS ANGELES -- Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Kevin Johnson died from "blunt head trauma and stab wounds" at a homeless encampment, according to the medical examiner.

Detectives are investigating a series of murders involving homeless people, including former NFLlineman Kevin Johnson, after the deaths were reported during a three-month time frame in the same area, the LA County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday.

The four people were found dead in the Willowbrook neighborhood of South Los Angeles between October 2025 and January 2026, the sheriff's department said.

All four victims were unhoused at the time of their deaths, living in homeless encampments on East 120th Street near Central Avenue, according to the LASD.

The LA County medical examiner said two weeks ago that Johnson, 55, died from “blunt head trauma and stab wounds” after being found unconscious at the encampment.
