The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) POSTMORTEM WARNING photo of decedent at the scene. It’s not super graphic but he does have some blood in his facial hair and near his left eye. His right eye is open.
This man seems pretty distinct to me and I’m sure someone recognizes him. This case should be pretty solvable, but knowing that he was found in LA I’m quite sure he was cremated. Even if he was indeed cremated I hope they collected fingerprints and dentals from him.

On the morning of October 17, 2020, a man was found unresponsive in Rio de Los Angeles State Park. He appears to have been homeless.

The decedent is described as a Hispanic middle aged male in his forties or fifties.
He had thick, straight, ~3 inch long salt and pepper hair and brown eyes. He had a thin gray mustache and goatee and sparse body hair.

The decedent was quite a small framed man. He was about 4’10” (147 cm) and weighed about 105 pounds (48 kg). He died a few hours prior to being found.

The decedent had an orthopedic plate and a scar on the side of his left shin from a previous surgical intervention. He was wearing a gray long sleeve button down shirt (size L), brown jeans, size 36 “Lee” brand, and white high top Fila sneakers in a size 9. He also had on a brown leather belt.

I agree looking at the man that he was homeless. His face and hair looks to be in rough condition, and his teeth are in disrepair with evidence of decay and a chipped front tooth. He also appears to be missing a few teeth? Again, I think from decay due to lack of area to brush his teeth.

I find the sizing on the decedent’s clothing to be another good indicator of homelessness. A size L shirt is way too big for a man who is under 5 feet tall and barely scrapes by into the triple digits for weight. Now, a size L in boys might fit him, but a size L in mens is way too big. Looking at him it appears it’s a mens shirt.

The jeans! Size 36! Is that in length or waist? I feel like either way that’s quite large for a man who’s 4’10” 105 lbs… but that’s just me maybe. I’m a little heavier at 110 lbs, 5’2” (but I’m a female so it may be different) but my inseam is 31 inches and I can tell you that my legs are disproportionately long on my tiny body. No way he was a 36 inch inseam. That’s like 6’2”+ man type size. As for the waist, well, I’m 27 inches just for a reference. I think that, personally, 36 inches would be again too big on a tiny man like him. Those would be way too big for him!

And the shoes! A size 9 is quite average as far as shoe sizes go for a male. He’s much smaller, being 4’10” 105 lbs compared to an average male, who is about 5’9” and let’s say 170 pounds. The average man would probably wear a size 9. I have super normal size feet for my body, being a size 5 in men’s (I am a 7 in women’s) so I imagine he was probably a similar size to me. He was probably hobbling around in those shoes.

All around very sad and I’m curious what his COD was given he was homeless. Did he pass out or have a medical emergency? Did he OD? I haven’t found any clues to that. It doesn’t look like a homicide. He does have some blood on his face but it could be he passed out or had a seizure and fell face first.
