Investigators on Thursday combed through the backyard of a home in South Los Angeles after someone discovered partially buried human bones at the residence, police said.

Police responded to a home in the 100 block of West 49th Street about 11 a.m. Wednesday after they received a report of a suspicious death, said Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD Lt. Ryan Rabbett told reporters at a news conference Thursday that an initial investigation determined that the partially buried bones were human remains.

Video from the scene shows investigators sifting through dirt in the back of the property. Rabbett said police are working with the coroner’s office to determine the person’s identity.

No one has been arrested.

“At this point, we can’t determine how long the victim has been deceased,” Rabbett said. “The remains were found behind the home in between two smaller structures — we’ll call them sheds.”

The homeowner believes someone brought the remains there, as they were found wrapped in a blanket.

Human remains have been discovered partially buried on a residential property in South Los Angeles.

Bones were found at the scene in the 100 block of 49th Street. Police responded to the location Wednesday after a call from people who live at the residence.

The bones were uncovered in the back of the home between two sheds. It was not immediately clear how long they have been there.

Detectives from the LAPD Homicide Unit determined Thursday the bones are human remains.

The coroner's office will attempt to identify the remains.

Very interesting case. There are several missing people in the Los Angeles Area who disappeared in the time frame provided. It's somewhat hard to narrow down with no sex and with Los Angeles being so big but I have a few potential identities based on relative proximity to the body site and similarities with the deceased.

Gladstone Malcolm missing since January 24, 2017
Tony Yu missing since January 5, 2019
Alicia Lin Griffin missing since February 28, 2019
Daniel Salgado Delgado missing since October 31, 2019
Javon Anthony Mottley missing since November 5, 2019

I hope this will help.
