California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a crash that occurred Nov. 1 east of Smith Flat on Highway 50 in Placerville.
According to CHP officials, the crash occurred at 7:45 p.m. in the highway’s westbound lanes. CHP officers arriving to the scene found an abandoned 2018 Kia Forte that appeared to have rolled over.
Monique Moreno told the Mountain Democrat the Kia belongs to the ex-wife of her brother, 50-year-old Stockton resident Louis Moreno.
CHP officials could not confirm whether Louis was a driver or occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. As of Nov. 14 Monique still had not received any updates on her brother’s whereabouts. She said his belongings, including glasses and a wallet with his ID, were found inside the abandoned Kia.
Monique described her brother as 5-foot, 10-inches tall and weighing about 240 pounds. He has facial hair and brown eyes. His hair was described as salt and pepper in color.
Monique said she filed missing persons reports in El Dorado and San Joaquin counties.

According to his sister, LE doesn't seem very interested in searching for him. Placerville PD told her that they considered it to be an abandoned car. The sister is quoted in the article as saying that the car belongs to his ex-wife, but doesn't say if contact has been made with the ex-wife.
