Circumstances of Discovery​

The victim was located with multiple gunshot wounds at the shoulder of I-105 Freeway, 2900 block Fernwood Avenue, Lynwood, California at about 7:50 a.m. His hands and legs were bound with electrical wire. Residents reported hearing gunfire at the location the night before.

Found at roadside near the 2900 block of Fernwood Ave. in Lynwood, CA. on 7/27/1996 at 0750 hours. Decedent is possibly of Arab/Pakistani descent. Age range between 33-43 years of age. Clothing description: jeans faded gray/blue, short sleeve shirt black/white/tan, boxer shorts.

I have been looking at lists of escaped inmates to see if any looked like they might match some John/Jane Does. This one stuck out at me.

Could this John Doe be escaped Nevada inmate Ridah Poelhadj? Ridah is Middle-Eastern, was approx 26 at the time of his escape.(He would have been 29/30 in 1996)

Ridah was convicted of uttering a forged instrument, related to a property crime, and began serving a four-year sentence on Nov. 19, 1992. He escaped from custody on Nov. 18, 1993, three months after a parole hearing on Aug. 23. His offender ID with the Nevada Department of Corrections is #38481. There is not much height or weight info for Ridah, but a few things line up that make this a possibility. Ridah is still listed as an escapee when you look him up on the NDOC website.
