I think your concern is a valid one and understand your point. But some kids really thin out as they grow taller, our granddaughter is 10, she really sprouted up this past year. Skinny little bean pole, who eats like a horse

Authorities said they believe Ashlee potentially traveled as far as Nebraska during the three-day road trip, adding that she stopped in Kansas on the way home. Now, detectives are focused on learning more about where Melodee was during those three days and where she may be now.

Does anyone remember the military mom with the missing 5 yr old daughter? Mom kept going to work but the child stopped going to the on base daycare. And there was an odd road trip involved. This case reminds me of that.

If she had already had one child removed before who went to live with their Dad and Melodee’s father’s side had tried to get custody of her, she may be trying to prevent anyone from taking her again. In her mind (not saying it’s the right thing to do) if she has mental health problems who knows the anxiety she has about already losing one kid to.

if a rental car was used, LE might be able to subpoena the GPS data from the vehicle about stops made, duration of stops, location, etc right? Or is that not a thing? Maybe I have watched too many movies? technology is moving so fast lately I honestly don't know how much info our cars are storing about our movements. I hope this is a thing, for Melodee's sake.

I remember her mother (LM)'s interview about the CPS call involving the rotten food in the refrigerator, and we know that Melodee was in foster care at some point several years ago, but do we know about the older child (daughter, I think)? I think it’s a thing for some companies. They should at least be able to see cell pings. I feel they should have decent knowledge of her path by this point.

They must have some information in that sense because they know she went to Nebraska, and also said her return trip routed through Kansas.

I've not seen any details about her older daughter's living situation in any MSM source.
Ashlee's mom LM stated to the reporter that the situation with rotting food in the fridge was when Melodee was a baby, and it was her older sister that LM feared Ashlee was trying to feed that food to.
Other than that, I think MSM has left the older sister's info out of their reporting.

Depends on what a judge will sign off on. So far, no solid evidence of foul play (at least that we know of) and LE needs a judge to sign any warrants and no leasing company is handing over that kind of data without a warrant.

Mom not cooperating MIGHT be enough to call for emergent circumstances and get a warrant on those grounds.

Then they'll have access to mileage, fueling, GPS history -- depending on the vehicle/company, they could get a really sophisticated return on their warrant. Stops, starts, turns, but even mileage discrepancies can be helpful.

Digital forensics is the new DNA.

nothing new. A timeline of events at the link. I worry as each day passes that hope she is alive somewhere in someone else's safekeeping dwindles. At this point, I can't imagine a circumstance where someone whose care she is in has not seen all the publicity around her case and does not know she is considered missing and LE are actively looking for her.
