'TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Nearly two decades after a 16-year-old girl was found strangled to death in a field near Highway 99, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office is renewing its push for answers.
Investigators are revisiting the 2008 killing of Molly Ervin, whose body was discovered near Avenue 264 and Road 94 just north of the City of Tulare. Now, advances in DNA technology and previously untested evidence could provide the breakthrough detectives have been waiting for.'
'Authorities say a ring and necklace Molly was wearing at the time of her death were never analyzed for DNA. Those items are now being sent to a private laboratory for testing, as the department works to overcome longstanding backlogs at the California Department of Justice.'
'Detectives believe Molly may have been killed elsewhere and her body later dumped at the rural site where it was found.'
