A partially decomposed body found wrapped and tied in a shower curtain near Canyon, West of Moraga, still remains unidentified although sheriff's investigators are calling the death a homicide.

The body, believed to be an adult male of possibly oriental or Mexican ancestry, had been stabbed in the neck and back at least five times, according to a pathologist's report.

However, the approximate time of death is also unknown.

The body was found Saturday about a mile south of Canyon Road on Pinehurst Road by two Hayward youths.

Coroner's Lt. Will Cullison said his office has no idea how long the body had been in the rural area.

Deputies investigating at the apparent murder scene said a .38 caliber bullet cartridge was found on the road not far from where the body was found.
