Cabada's argument with his girlfriend led to her departing their home for a week. Her last contact with him was on 17 July 2011. On 26 July 2011, she found their locked car parked in a local rural park in Ukiah. His family is split between Ukiah and Mexico; neither branch of it has heard from him.
