Circumstances of Recovery: Right hand found on a homeowner's rooftop when he examined the roof for repairs. Right hand likely belonged to Lalonna Marie Duffy who died from an explosion in the same neighborhood several months prior (unable to verify identity).

"The victim's thumbprint was matched to a print of Duffy's thumb on file with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, according to Pacifica police Capt. Mike Blagrove."

Seems like they recovered her other hand, or at least the thumb, and had the prints to compare. Although after several months on a roof there might not hae been any useful prints left. If they have not solved this after 24 years, maybe they think the hand on the roof belonged to someone else who was with her? It seems kind of weird they would create a NamUs entry for the hand if there was at least a presumptive ID that it belonged to Duffy.

Weird to create a NamUs for a hand regardless, it's hardly proof of death.
And how is any other agency or the public supposed to help with identifying the owner?
Hopefully there is some tissue left so it can be verified with DNA eventually if it belongs to LaLonna or not.
