One-year-old Parker Lee was found with a severed spine and skull fractures at his Yucca Valley home on February 10. Parker was pronounced dead from his injuries on the evening of Feb. 12 at Loma Linda University Medical Center. The boyfriend of Lee's mother, Arthur Thomas Davies, was arrested and charged with murder.

Karissa Caccavari, Lee's mother, said she left her son in Davies' care while she went to the laundry room several steps away from the home. When she returned, Lee was seriously injured.

A hearing was moved to September 26.

He plead not guilty and is being held on $1 million bail. How far away was the laundry room and long was mom gone? The wording used in the article above makes it seem not very long or far.

A new pre-trial date has been set for April 7th, with a trial-readiness date set for May 19th. If the defense produces no further delays – the jury trial for Arthur Davies is now set to start on Monday May 22. Judge Pallone stated that Davies’ defense team – who had been absent at the most-recent trial-readiness – said that they will be at the new scheduled dates.

From Sept. 2023: Hung jury.
The jury in the Arthur Davies case is “hopelessly deadlocked” and the trial has ended with a not-guilty verdict on one charge, and a mistrial on all lesser charges. The case will now be retried, according to State Attorney Charles Tsuei.

On the count of Murder in the 1st degree – the jury returned a “not guilty” verdict. However – lesser charges of Involuntary Manslaughter and Felony Assault on a Child Causing Death were deadlocked, with a final vote of 10 – 2 in favor of conviction on both counts. All 12 jurors must unanimously agree on a verdict.

Judge Christopher Pallone declared a mistrial on the lesser charges and the jury was dismissed after 4 weeks of serving.
