Parks Whitney, current age 56, was last seen on June 30, 1995 near Eureka, California. He parked his car and gave his keys to a construction worker. His mother received a phone call from police who had found his car in Petrolia and had it towed to Fortuna.
Parks was 5 feet 8 inches, 130 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. The East Bay Area native served in the military in Germany.
Parks had left his apartment three days before his car was found. Family said he had some personal issues he was trying to sort out and was under a lot of stress. Until his car was found they "assumed he just went on a drive up the coast to cool off." His mother said they never got much information about what happened and at the time his family thought maybe he had taken measures to begin anew. He just vanished. His niece told MPIA, "I really appreciate you bringing awareness to these people and especially for my uncle. It was such a light in the darkness to know we weren't the only ones who still remember him and wonder where he's been." His mother is 78 and has never stopped looking for her son. She, along with his two sisters, a brother, and nieces and nephews, have never forgotten him nor have they lost hope of reconnecting with him.
