That'll teach him! Passers-by dragged carjacker out of the vehicle he tried to steal from a terrified family - and subdued him until the police arrive

A would-be carjacker got a taste of street justice when he tried to steal a vehicle with a woman and child inside, after a group of passers-by rushed to her aid, dragging him away and holding him down until the police arrived.

A 22-year-old man who allegedly tried to forcibly take a vehicle from a woman in City Heights, his citizen's arrest caught on video went viral, was ordered to stand trial of charges of attempted kidnapping during a carjacking, felony child abuse and possession of a controlled substance.

Ismael Velasquez Hernandez faces 12 years in prison if convicted...

Judge Louis Hanoian found that enough evidence was presented at the defendant's preliminary hearing to warrant a trial, set for Oct. 17.
