Ancestry has a couple of trees for her. According to the site she had three marriages. There is a picture of her with 3 children although not clear they all hers. Very attractive women. Sad no details that I can find of her disappearance.

Okay. So what were the circumstances around her disappearance? Last communication is Jan 1 1973. Phone call? Walked out of house? Went hitchhiking? What?

She had 4 children. First born was a son given up at birth for adoption. Then 3 daughters as shown in the photo. I am the oldest of those daughters. Yes all 4 of us have different fathers. My sisters and I do not know the circumstances because the last time we saw our mother we were 10, 8 and 5. She went missing when I was 14. I didn't find out till I was 15 and no one would give us details. Both her parents were alive at that time as well as her 1 brother and 5 sisters. My grandparents didn't want to talk about it and the two sisters that would talk about her had different stories of what was going on in her life. I really thought that she would show up at any time and I put my prayer in the prayer basket every week at church. No one ever made a missing persons report on her. How can your parents and your siblings not do that? It baffles me. We, the children were lied to and told that there was a missing persons report. I wish I had more information to give the authorities. I am so grateful to all who helped her finally get the attention she deserves especially Detective John Skipper who is actively making and working this case. She had beautiful GREEN eyes.

What were the stories? Sometimes the stories have a grain of the truth... and do they differ wildly?

The only truth I know is that shortly before her disappearance she was on the phone with her mother, a sister & a niece (my cousin, my age) She was very depressed. Her mother was at work. After work her mother & sister were worried enough they drove to her apartment but she wasn't there and was never seen from or heard from again

That is so sad. If that's what happened, I can't even imagine the adults in a family not contacting police and filing a missing person's report. Even if LE refused to take it right away, I can't imagine never filing one. :(

Welcome to Websleuths! We’re happy to have you here and telling us about your mom. I wish we could have met under different circumstances however. I’m glad you have a good detective looking into your mom’s case and you’re in good company here too! Many good folks here if there’s anything we can do to assist!

I sincerely hope you and your family can get some long needed answers!

Are we to understand that suicide is likely? I don't see hints of abduction here.

Also, the date for her missing is January 1st, 1973. Is that accurate or is it just that she went missing sometime in 1973 and no one really remembers when exactly and Jan 1st was just entered to fill in the field?

Yes, January 1st is because I don’t know the date. Suicide seems unlikely to me, how would she hide her own body? She was at home last anyone knew and she didn’t have a car. I’ve spent almost my entire life wondering what happened to her. Detective John Skipper is working the Wollacott case and setting it up for one of my sisters and I to be swabbed for Codis for these particular remains. We have already uploaded our dna to GEDmatch. If this isn't her Detective John Skipper is still going to help us with our mother's case.

Did she have anything specific about her bones? Like a bone disease, a missing tooth, a missing finger, a broken collarbone that healed, dental bridges, or anything of that nature. Jane Does sometimes contain these details in reports.

Suicidal people don't necessarily have their bodies found in a timely matter, especially if water is part of the picture. I remember one case where someone committed suicide not far from civilization and went undiscovered for like 50 years.

I do not think suicide is likely in my Mother's case and will not entertain the idea.
