When I googled "Patrick Albert Wright" missing, I found a couple of websites that provide a more detailed account of the family's arrival in SF, and describe Patrick as a "vulnerable, highly endangered adult," adding that he was "battling mental illness."

However, the websites are not MSM so I won't link them here. But to anyone with a newspapers.com account, might there be confirmation of this in any articles?

I did a quick search - I didn't find anything. Perhaps someone else will - hope so.

He was ruled out as a match of Long Beach John Doe (eventually identified as Kenneth Williams). I wonder if he was one of Kraft's victims. It's also interesting to note the number of missing males in San Francisco during 1970s and 1980s.
