Ruthey is such a beautiful young lady. I'm heartbroken for her Mom, Ocean and all those who love her. The waiting, not knowing where she is, or what happened to her is horrible for those left behind.

Renesto explained that her daughter was trying to support her one-year-old child and was working as a prostitute at the time of her disappearance. “She told me she was at her breaking point, scared, and didn’t want to do it anymore but was afraid to leave,” Renesto said. “These women deserve to matter, just like my daughter, all of them.”

The City of Long Beach, in collaboration with Clear Channel, which owns the billboard space, placed the billboard at no cost to the family.

The fact that to some they don't, is infuriating!!

Dec. 27, 2024, should have been Smith’s 22nd birthday. Instead, her family pleaded for the public’s help in finding her nearly three years after she disappeared in a Los Angeles area notorious for gang violence and prostitution

Long Beach mother Ruthey Smith was abducted by suspected human traffickers three years ago. With little progress made in her case by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), her family held a press conference on Monday urging the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to take over the case.

Her family hopes LAPD or the FBI will be able to make more progress in solving Smith’s case. Although Smith was from Long Beach, she was abducted in Los Angeles.

“With her gone, I’m ripped apart, and we need to be a whole,” Renesto said. “I need to know she’s alive. I need to know Ruthey Smith is alive, and I need the world to pray with me and say her name.”
