Just found this case and decided to make a thread for this baby boy. This case makes me feel so sick. Any case involving a baby that was disposed of like trash just makes me feel so enraged. Okay, let’s just get into the case.

The Case
On July 29, 1998, a deceased newborn baby was found in a gas station. He was wrapped in a pink sheet, then he along with the sheet were in a garbage bag.

John Doe
The baby was a white newborn male. The boy was wrapped in a pink sheet and put in a garbage bag and tossed into a gas station dumpster. He still had the placenta and umbilical cord attached. He was estimated at 37-38 weeks gestational age. He had black hair. The baby boy was 1’9” (52 cm) in length and weighed 6 pounds (2.75 kg). The baby’s mother and father have not been identified and it’s unknown if the baby boy was born alive or deceased, or whether he was alive or deceased when thrown away.

Poor little mite. Kids put in the garbage really gets to me, too.

I would hope that him being found in '98 means they have DNA for him, and perhaps his mother, on file. By '98 everyone was aware of DNA, and with him being found quickly, getting samples off his body of his mother's blood and pubic hairs certainly would have been possible.

I do wonder why they don't know if he was stillborn or not. They can tell from the lungs if the child drew breath, as far as I know. But perhaps is was a little while before they found him - there's no eye colour listed, either, and I have seen eye colour listed for newborns in other cases where they were found very quickly. Eye colour is hard to determine after a few days, though.

I see this case was only listed a few days ago on NamUs, you're really on the ball, Emilia! Hopefully, if they've gone to the trouble of listing him, they're working actively on his case.

I think it’s because most babies seem to be born with blue eyes and oftentimes the eye color changes as they grow.

Some are, but it depends. Pretty sure mine were very dark, almost black. I'm pretty solidly white English heritage, but I have dark brown eyes and dark brown hair (see icon! That photo's about ten years old but I like it). I imagine a lot of babies of nonwhite ancestry have dark eyes at birth, too.

This article talks about this: All Babies Are Born With Blue Eyes: Fact or Fiction?.

Funny enough, my brother had blue eyes until he was about four, then they turned hazel all of a sudden. I have people in my family with dark brown, light brown (amber), blue, green, and hazel.

I’m white too, I am of very strong Slavic roots (I’m Russian-American) and my eyes stayed blue my whole life, from the day I was born to now. My brothers were born with blue eyes and all of a sudden at around 3-5 years old they turned green.
