Oh now I see where the Jussie thinking could come in. I had read this paragraph wrong the first time, I thought that the police changed it from the perp was wearing the hat to not wearing the hat. I misread it and did not see that they were initially saying that the victim was wearing the hat. It will be interesting to see how this plays out

Someone tried to swipe a MAGA hat from another person's head. The instigator got slashed.

There's conflicting reporting on this. One news source appears to tell us that a man's cap magically fell off as someone passed by. Sweeney says he yelled homophobic slurs at him as he walked along with his girlfriend. I hope there's video footage of the encounter. I'm not saying it didn't happen however I'm certainly skeptical.

A man in a pirate costume and a red “Make America Great Again” hat shouted anti-gay slurs at passers-by outside a San Francisco roller rink Friday night, KRON reported.

Then the man’s cap fell to the sidewalk as another person passed him outside the Church of 8 Wheels, prompting him to draw a sword and slash the other passer-by, KGO reported.

Someone's blood was shed on the sidewalk, so no, this isn't Jussie Smollett again. Thankfully, the injury wasn't life-threatening. Regardless of who provoked whom, let's not make light of people shedding blood in the streets, especially if it's over a hat.
