A video of the incident published by TMZ on Friday shows Baer attempting to take a cell phone from his wife, Pamela, pulling her to the ground as she shouts: “Oh my God, no, help!”

[...]

“My wife and I had an unfortunate public argument related to a family member and she had an injured foot and she fell off her chair in the course of the argument,” Baer said. “The matter is resolved. It was a squabble over a cell phone. Obviously it’s embarrassing.”

[...]

Major League Baseball released a statement saying that it “is aware of the incident and, just like any other situation like this, will immediately begin to gather the facts. We will have no further comment until this process is completed.”

“She fell off her chair”... Um, wait... what? It’s on video. He’s an idiot if he thinks saying she “fell off her chair” is going to fool anyone who isn’t blind. I shudder to think of what he must behave like behind closed doors.

Now, now! We mustn't ascribe this to all men. Most are honourable. That's what makes this man's behaviour so horrible.

Poor woman! Hopefully he receives more than a slap on the hand. We can all imagine what happens at home. Plus, he deserves to be fired and swiftly.

That scream sounded like she was attacked before. Imo i would likely scream if it was a stranger, but thats me. I would say "oh hell no" not "help me " and scream bloody murder to my non abusive husband...JMO

Wife of multi-millionaire San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer DEFENDS him after shocking video | Daily Mail Online

The wife of San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer has spoken out to defend him after shocking video showed him apparently pulling her off a chair and dragging her to the ground as she screams 'oh my god, help'.

'My husband and I had an argument in public about which we are quite embarrassed,' Pam Baer said in a statement through her attorney after the incident on Friday in Hayes Valley.

'I took his cellphone. He wanted it back and I did not want to give it back,' she continued. 'I started to get up and the chair I was sitting on began to tip.'

'Due to an injury I sustained in my foot three days ago, I lost my balance. I did not sustain any injury based on what happened today. Larry and I always have been and still are happily married,' she said.

Huh, so she wanted to see something on his phone. He wanted to prevent her from seeing it so badly he was willing to pull her off and knock over the chair she was sitting on in a very public place. Makes me wonder what was on that phone. She clearly did not lose her balance. I mean even IF she lost her balance it was because he was physically fighting her for something and didn't care if taking it from her meant knocking her on the ground.

Married over 20 years and my husband has never done something like this to me. It doesn't look like normal behavior to me......

Just watched it again. He clearly pulled her and the chair over. And no one screams like that because they lose their balance...

Wonder what was on that phone both desperately wanted!

Not defending his actions. Yes he pulled her over because they were both holding the phone.

I don't believe that's necessarily so. It's pretty telling that she's the one taking nearly all the blame in that public, belated statement, don't you think?

If it was truly an accident he would have been gently helping her up and comforting her.

He was pissed.

This is why Minnesota was the first to have abusers arrsted when someone called to say they were being abused.

The women ( I know men get abused) would rescind what they said when the police arrived, This looks just like that to me

San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer apologizes for 'unacceptable behavior' and takes leave of absence after video showed him dragging his screaming wife to the ground

Like that will make a difference. If he were just an average guy, he would be prosecuted and probably compelled to get some counseling and take anger management classes. Billionaires are above the law, though.

Why does domestic violence seem to be increasing in the world of professional sports? Maybe it's been there all along, just now being exposed thanks to the prevalence of security video and cell phones. In our area, the problem seems to be with owners who are criminals. Ugh. The owners, teams and fans need to realize the taxpayers supporting them are getting fed up and beginning to rebel.
