I would guess this would be near Stockton.

I wonder if they ever found the other parts.

I grew up in this area. My bet is he was either with bikers or involved with drug related activity & that led to his sad end. If someone posts his tats & description in downtown Modesto, Stockton or even the South Bay Area tips may come in.

My half-brother was involved in this world during the era this UID was found & let me tell you, there were some scary characters in that game.

These tatts don't look terribly professional, even for that era. I wonder if we are looking at prison productions or just backyard/home doodles.

Be pretty rare to run into colored prison tattoos back then. My question is are we sure thats a grimm reaper? Looked like a wizard to me

A year-old boy, who was injured in a head-on crash of automobiles that killed his father, died at 6:40 P.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital. The death of Randall Jentzen, 202 N. Davison, brings to 33 the number of persons killed in Genesee County traffic outside Flint. Wesley H. Jentzen, 28, one of the drivers, was dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital after the collision in thick fog about 6:20 A. M. Wednesday on Davison Rd. just west of the Davison city limits. Jentzen's wife, Delma, 21, and the couple's other two children, 2 and 3, were also injured along with four persons in the other car. State Police said the driver of the other car pulled out to pass an auto and that the collision was in Jentzen's lane of traffic

His sister was right about him having a history of contact with law enforcement:
Danny Jentzen, 20, Newbury Park, who was beaten in county jail last week in a "kangaroo court" proceeding, changed his plea in superior court Monday. Jentzen pleaded no contest to committing an act of sex perversion involving a minor. He will be sentenced on Dec. 16
-

In October 1974 defendant was charged with four counts with lewd and lascivious conduct on a ten-year-old boy, Ronald R. (Pen.Code, § 288), and in two counts of oral copulation on the same Ronald R. (Pen.Code, § 288a). While the 288 counts specified the age of Ronald R., the 288a counts did not. All counts referred to acts allegedly committed in August 1974.
Pursuant to a plea bargain defendant pleaded nolo contendere in November 1974 to one 288a count, and the remaining five counts were later dismissed. He was committed to Atascadero State Hospital as a mentally disordered sex offender. Thereafter, on his return to court uncured, he was placed on probation in March 1976 for three years, one of the conditions of probation being non-association with persons under 18. In February 1978 defendant was returned to court for violation of probation, and the court found:
“I do find that you were originally convicted of this case of lewd and lascivious conduct with a ten-year-old boy. You had been living with a 15-year-old boy in San Francisco. The most important term of probation, as far as I am concerned, was that you were not to associate with minors without other personable, reputable adults. Clearly, you have violated probation in the very area that it was most important.”

The last trace I see of him was in January 1981:
Danny Joe Jentzen pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license and was fined $130

''After 43 years, the remains of a murdered man discovered in an orchard in San Joaquin County, California has been identified as Danny Joe Jentzen, born in 1954.''

''In April 1982, the partial remains of an unidentified homicide victim were found in an almond orchard in Manteca, California, which is in San Joaquin County. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office responded and began collecting evidence and investigating. It was determined that the victim was a White man who appeared to be about 22 to 26 years old and had distinctive tattoos including a snake's head in blue ink on the outside of his right wrist and a colored grim reaper tattoo on his left forearm.

Despite a lengthy investigation and extensive community outreach, including releasing photos of the man's tattoos, he could not be identified and became known as Manteca John Doe. Details of the case were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP68492.

In 2024, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office submitted forensic evidence to Othram in The Woodlands, Texas to determine if advanced DNA testing could help identify the victim. Othram scientists successfully developed a DNA extract from the provided evidence and then used Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® to build a comprehensive DNA profile for the victim. The DNA profile was returned to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office who worked with the FBI's forensic genetic genealogy team to develop new leads in the case.

Using this new information, a follow-up investigation was conducted leading investigators to potential relatives of the victim. Reference DNA samples were collected from a relative and compared to the DNA profile of the unidentified man. This investigation led to the positive identification of the man, who is now known to be Danny Joe Jentzen, from Flint, Michigan, born July 8, 1954. At the time his remains were found, he would have been 27 years old.

Jentzen's family said he grew up as a ward of the state, had some law enforcement contact in Southern California and San Francisco, and may have struggled with mental health challenges, according to the Sheriff's Office. His sister last saw him as a child after their father and younger brother were killed in a tragic car accident.

The investigation into Jentzen's homicide continues and the San Joaquin Sheriff's Office is asking that anyone with information about Danny Joe Jentzen or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death should please contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office at (209) 468-4400.''
