''September 10, 2024 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in 1994, the hands of Sharalyn Murphy were

located within a garbage bag along the shores of New Melones Reservoir. Sharalyn’s naked and headless body was located approximately six miles from the reservoir. Sharalyn’s estimated time of death is to be in the fall season of 1994. She was 23 years old.

Sharalyn originally lived in the State of Washington but moved to the Sacramento area in 1993.

• 'In 1994, the hands of Sharalyn Murphy were found next to the water under Parrotts Ferry Bridge, in an area known as Deadman’s Gulch, at New Melones Reservoir. Her naked and headless body was located about 6 miles from the reservoir, near a cabin about 3 miles east of Vallecito on Camp 9 Road. She was 23 years old.
