SAN FRANCISCO - Authorities on Friday released the names of four family members found dead inside their home in San Francisco’s Westwood Highlands neighborhood, as police continue investigating what they call a set of suspicious deaths.

The family had moved into the neighborhood about a year ago and were known for their elaborate holiday light displays, according to neighbors.

"It was a normal family — two parents, two kids, a dog," said neighbor Benoit, who declined to give his last name. "It’s terrible, especially when you hear that there are young kids."

The family lived on a tree-lined street in a tidy suburban neighborhood on San Francisco’s West Side.

They were a mom, a dad, and two school-age kids. They were small-business owners and entrepreneurs, who lived in a spacious home purchased for $1.3 million more than a decade ago. Their neighbors all described them as friendly, if somewhat private, the pleasant sounds of their garden dinners sometimes spilling over the fence next door.

Nobody who lived in this affluent, low-crime neighborhood would expect that the family’s home, at 930 Monterey Blvd., would be the scene of a grisly discovery Wednesday, when four people believed to be the family were found dead. Police are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.

Sounds like another Emily Long type scenerio, except there was no theft. Very Sad.

It may bring some measure of relief to the family’s neighbors to know they were not victims of a home invasion/homicide, but it’s still surely a heartbreaking loss fr all who knew them.
