There is a huge wildfire in the area they are missing from. They were last seen several days before the fire started, but if they were in an accident in that area I don't see how a search could be conducted. I hope that they left on a trip and neglected to tell anyone.

Hoping they're in a shelter...

It doesn't make sense at all to go through Susanville if their destination was Shasta Ski Park. That's a five-hour trip whereas Chico to Shasta Ski Park is just under 2.5 hours via the route below. Something is very wrong. Nobody knows where these ladies were supposedly headed? :(

Not only did TG and the missing women have a close relationship, they also lived right next door to each other and TG told Action News Now they did pretty much everything together.

Vivian Luna and Dolores Sakamoto lived in the same building and Luna was TG’s caregiver and was with her daily.

KH, the daughter of 64-year-old Vivian Luna and granddaughter of 84-year-old Dolores Sakamoto, says the pair disappeared from Chico after leaving for church on July 21. A neighbor had been expecting to meet them on return, and when they didn't arrive the neighbor called authorities.

“Everything was timed and they had a schedule you know. This isn’t, she wouldn’t do this," she says. "You know, my grandma’s got dementia. You don’t take an 84-year-old woman with dementia on a three-week long road trip. That’s not something that we do.“

KH says if they are out and about they might be found in a Goodwill or a thrift shop. She describes her mother as short, and her grandmother as someone who speaks with a thick Spanish accent.

The multi-agency effort utilizing airplanes, helicopters, deputies and dogs has been unable to locate Luna, Sakamoto or their vehicle around Mount Shasta. The Butte County Sheriff's Office told SFGATE on Tuesday, 23 days after the women's disappearance, that detectives and aircraft were continuing the search.

"... apart from the cell phone ping in the Mount Shasta Ski Park area, we have not recovered any new information that definitively places them in Siskiyou County," the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office told SFGATE over email Tuesday.

Hart says Luna was spotted at a Goodwell in Chester the same day after she was already reported missing. Deputies say Luna was also caught on camera pulling out money from a bank in Susanville the next day.

The family said the sheriff’s office still has not shown them the surveillance video. ...

They were last seen in a black Lexus. Hart said neither of them were capable of driving so it was highly unlikely they were by themselves.

An extensive investigation was conducted by the Butte County Sheriff's Office into their disappearance. Authorities have stated there is no evidence indicating that the missing persons cases are suspicious.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office will handle the determination of the cause and manner of death for the remains found with the car

Found in March! It's 4 days 'til June! What an agonizing wait knowing their car was found over 2 months ago and identification is still "pending". I hope their family gets closure as soon as possible.
