James Zappelli

James Zappelli spent his life in Sonoma County, first working in vineyards, then fixing people's cars. Zappelli, owner of Zappelli & Family Body Shop in Santa Rosa since 1958, died Friday of cancer. He was 68.

n addition to his wife and daughters Noren and Samantha, Zappelli is survived by his mother, Clara Caron of Santa Rosa; three other daughters, Vicky Zappelli of Tacoma, Wash., Nadine Zappelli of Santa Rosa and Pamela Zappelli of Clearlake; sons James and Quin Zappelli of Santa Rosa; three brothers; four sisters; his aunt, Helen Berizzi of Geyserville; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Zappelli's eighth son, Warren Gilbert Zappelli, went missing in 1971 in Mendocino County and was never found.

How very very sad. Not even a photo of him :(. The article upthread reported that he had suffered from a case of encephalitis with resulting brain damage, but that he was alert. And apparently able to walk. If you look at the ages of all the kids, wow, that mom certainly had her hands full! It sounds like he wandered off and either into the hands of a predator or more likely a terrible accident happened. Sad that his little body was never found :(.

Does anyone else think it's a little strange that a 9 year old drowned? I mean, it can happen but then to find no trace of him?

On 05/16/1971, Warren Zappelli went missing from the Township of Mendocino. Based on the report, it was suspected Zappelli fell into the ocean. A search was conducted by the local fire department and nothing was located.

In the article from the second post, his mother says he was scared of water. So why are they so sure that he drowned ??
