William Floyd Zamastil
alias Bill Zamastil
Convicted of four murders (2 in CA, 1 in AZ, 1 in WI)
Timeline: (note that per testimony at his Johnson trial, he had been jailed at Dane County jail in Madison WI at one or more times, but I couldn't find the dates for that)
5/17/1952 - His Date of Birth in Madison, Wisconsin, source: 5/20/1952 The Capital Times
July-Dec 1970 - got out of Army (?) and was in Wisconsin. Source: 12/30/1970 Waukesha Daily Freeman newspaper William F Zamastil, no permanent address, arrested stolen vehicle and driving without a license. He’d been staying with Carol Constance, 1225 Summit Ave ?Waukesha?, and it was her car. He said he’d had no permanent address since getting out of the Army in July 1970, and had stayed in Monona, Milwaukee, Middleton.
11/24/1972 - Was living in Los Angeles CA and on that date he married Ofelia Restrepo (Montoya) when he was 20. Source: Ancestry dot com California US Marriage Index 1960-1985
5/29/1973 - Leesa Jo Shaner disappears in AZ - CONVICTED YEARS LATER
12/12/1973 - separated from first wife
11/20/1974 - suspected in Bunch death, was working and staying in Needles, CA. Source: 8/27/2003 Needles Desert Star. She disappeared 11/20/1974 from the Needles area of the Wheeler 66 Station and Zamastil worked half block from there. He sometimes stayed in a shed 50 yards from her backyard. Her body was found 8/27/1976.
8/18/1975 Zamastil is suspected in Deborah Carrick death “he was a tow truck driver in Mohave County….he was out of prison and operating in the area at the time Carrick disappeared and was killed.” 8/18/1975 is the day that Carrick was supposed to travel from Flagstaff to Grand Canyon.Her body was found 9/9/1975 between Cameron, AZ and Grand Canyon National Park. Her belongings and ID were found at an intersection in Santa Rosa, CA. Source Arizona Daily Sun 11/12/2013.

6/19/1977 - suspected in John Daniel O’Donnell death; Zamastil was working part time at a truck stop in Kingman, AZ. O'Donnel stopped there was later seen with a blond man at a campground that fit Zamastil's description. Source: Needles Desert Star newspaper 9/10/2003. Zamastil was known bisexual.
8/16/1977 Living in Barstow; daughter born. Source: 9/1/1977 Barstow, CA, Desert Dispatch newspaper. "Mr. and Mrs. William Zamastil of Barstow have recently announced the birth of their daughter, on 8/16/1977 at Victor Valley Hosp. Her Grandparents are Mr and Mrs. Jean Petit of Barstow and Mr. and Mrs Zamastil of Middleton, WI"
2/27/1978 - murder of Bradshaw siblings in CA - CONVICTED YEARS LATER
7/19/1978 started working at Monona Tire Co in Madison WI and living with brother
8/1/1978 did not go to work at Monona Tire unexpectedly. Had collected his first paycheck the day before this.
8/1/1978 - Mary Johnson kidnapped in Madison; killed just over the county border in a park in Sauk County. That evening he confessed and was taken into custody. His ARIZONA license was found with her body, so he had been a resident of AZ just prior to 7/19/1978 when he moved back to WI. The Sauk County sheriff dept put out a bulletin of info on Zamastil to other agencies and said he has a wife and child in Barstow, and had previously lived in Needles and Barstow. Also said he had criminal records in Arizona, California, and Washington.
