Circumstances of Disappearance:
Weatherall was last seen in Los Angeles, California on January 6, 1991.*** He left his residence on Crocker Street in a pink van driven by an unidentified African-American woman. He has never been heard from again.

Weatherall was expecting a phone call from a longtime friend the evening he disappeared; he told her he would wait inside his house for her call. When she could not reach him, she contacted his relatives, who went to his home to investigate.

They found the gate to the driveway uncharacteristically open. His van was parked on the street in front of the home. His two German Shepherd dogs were outside and had not been fed.

Authorities consider Weatherall's disappearance suspicious. Family members reported they fear that his disappearance is connected with a $17,000 property loan that he took out on behalf of a friend who reneged on paying him back.

No one has been charged in Weatherall's case. His whereabouts remain unknown.

archived article from The Los Angeles Times 1/29/1992

Going by the article, it sounds like he went missing on the 4th, the same day he was last seen playing dominos? The reason I ask is because this John Doe was found on the 4th (dunno what time though, would have had to have been late in the day.) The hair looks darker (shadow? Dye?), and the age range, but that's rarely accurate. Other than that, they are both just over 5ft and 150lbs.

The information you have is really encouraging... it looks a lot like the man in question... I can imagine that the woman who took him in her truck has something to do with the borrowed money... perhaps to throw people off the scent of the real killer... but the friend would be the culprit in this case for not paying him back the loan... and for so much money... he is most likely dead...
whatever the case
rest in peace

Wow this really does look a lot like William!

The quality and angle of William's photo are really such a shame because the decedent has very distinctive marks under his eyes that are covered by a line and a shadow at those exact spots in William's photo.

Pala is also a two-hour drive from LA so this would fit the timing.
