Anaheim police: Body found in dumpster at apartment complex

A homicide investigation is underway in Anaheim following the discovery of a woman's body in a dumpster early Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the scene at a condominium complex in the 2100 block of S. Euclid Street at approximately 3:30 a.m.

The body was found in a "luggage device" described by Anaheim police as a suitcase or duffel bag. It was later confirmed by police to be the body of a woman.

An examination of the body revealed it was still intact after initial reports said the body may have been dismembered.

Dead bodies in "luggage devices" have a long twisted not-uninteresting history.

She was a beautiful mother of three...so heartbreaking. I guess a moderator can mark this one as "identified" now? @CarlK90245

Amer Saleh Alhasan was convicted of first-degree murder in the Oct. 30, 2018, killing of 38-year-old Tiyanie Sopheap Ly of Santa Ana. Jurors took about 90 minutes to reach a verdict.

Alhasan, who is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 6, faces 25 years to life in prison.

Ly lived with her three children -- a daughter and two sons -- and worked a night shift, Senior Deputy District Attorney Janine Madera said. On Oct. 29, 2018, she was last seen in her work scrubs serving breakfast to her children before dropping them off at school, Madera said.

By the next day no one had heard from her and that "wasn't like her," Madera said. All calls when to her voicemail, she added.

That's very sad, those poor kids! Glad he was caught. R.I.P.

They do indeed; here in the UK there were some very interesting cases from the 1920s and 30s, including the two Brighton trunk murders in 1934.
