I had revised the facial reconstruction for this John Doe, and realized that he no longer had a NamUs file. So I e-mailed Daniel Machian to ask if John Doe had been ID'd.

Mr. Machian replied as follows:

Our case 1993-08814 was identified earlier this year. The L.A. County Coroner website lists this case as “case closed”. I am not able to release his name at this time, pending next of kin notification.

Anyone know what happened to him? Who was he?
The case number and date don’t bring up anything on the LA County Coroner website but if his name was only being withheld pending next of kin being notified you should be able to call them and ask for information regarding him using the case number.
