Jeannette "Jenet" Kamehele is considered part of the Santa Rosa Hitchhiker series of murders because a) she was a known hitchhiker b) she was picked up on 101, and c) the three witnesses who saw the man who picked her up on April 25, 1972, match the two witness descriptions of the driver in Lori Kursa's case, despite having two different vehicles being driven. I believe two killers took turns choosing their victims. One preferred older women like Jeannette, Therese, and Kim, as well as hog-tying his victims and sexually assaulting them. The other killer preferred younger girls such as Maureen, Yvonne, Lori, and Carolyn, and didn't sexually assault them. If we include 1979 Sonoma Jane Doe (who was hog-tied) as well as the double murder of Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble, the pattern continues but also evolves. It's a really bizarre case. The above entry is replete with error.
Janet Kamahele is still missing, as can be seen at CA - CA - Jeannette Kamahele, 20, Santa Rosa, 25 April 1972. I remain extremely dubious she was actually part of this series of murders.
The body found near Lori Lee Kursa's drop location hasn't been identified.
Kim Wendy Allen was found to the south of Santa Rosa, while the other victims were found north of the city. This can be verified at CA - CA - Kim Allen, 19, Santa Rosa, 4 March 1972
The idea that the Zodiac Killer and the Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murderer are the same person is ludicrous. I get tired of pointing out that the Zodiac shot courting couples, while the SRHHM abducted and strangled teenage girls and young women. Next you know, someone will be insisting that the Zodiac also napalmed grandmothers.
But it still doesn't explain why Jeannette wasn't found. That bothers me too.
