LOS ANGELES – Concern about the heavy metal cadmium in jewelry grew Tuesday as a California environmental group said new testing of adult necklaces and bracelets bought at three leading retailers, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Aeropostale, detected high levels of the toxic material — as much as 75 percent by weight.

Stop and think a moment about someone with neuro issues wearing jewelry and absorbing a heavy metal poison into their skin....like someone in your life with MS, Dementia, Alzheimers, Cerebral Palsy.....

FYI-this is not jewelry limited to China, BTW. One item tested was made in India.

From what I've read this does seem to be a significant health risk. It's obviously not necessary to wear jewelry, and the most common-sensical advice would appear to be to not wear cheap jewelry until this is under control. My reading also shows that if one wears only sterling or gold jewelry this is not an issue.
