This is the same courthouse where Michael Jackson was acquitted 20 years ago.

Five people reported hospitalized from injuries.

A man set off an explosive device at a California courthouse on Wednesday, injuring five people and leading to the evacuation and closing of the court complex and other city buildings, officials said.

Sandy Doucette, a spokesperson for Marian Regional Medical Center, said the hospital was treating five patients in connection with the explosion.

Mellon said he saw what looked like a sweater smoldering and a man screaming while four or five people got on top of him, trying to keep him restrained.

The bomber was apparently able to slip his device past courthouse security measures, which include metal detectors and X-ray machines to scan bags.

I’m guessing among the people injured are the incredibly brave people who jumped on top of him?

This is unbelievable. I’m surprised more people aren’t discussing this.

The suspect, identified by the sheriff's office as 20-year-old Nathaniel McGuire, will be booked on multiple local charges, including attempted murder, using an explosive device and attempting to kill someone, and possession of explosive devices, Bonner said.
