Unfortunately I am only cataloging the United States.

Tattoos have been around almost as long as human beings. They can have deep meaning to them or just be decoration.

This thread contains the year they were found, their sex, their approx. age, what state they were found in, and most importantly, their tattoos. More information is at the links provided.

There is no way that this short list is complete, so if you see one I’m missing don’t be afraid to comment.

Each "era" is going to be in the comments below, I will edit frequently to make changes, add more, delete identified, Etc. etc.

Keep in mind that due to decomposition and the elements, tattoos can disappear or be very hard to distinguish.

1936 Male (20-30) Ohio: He had six tattoos; One on the left calf was the character Jiggs from the comic strip Bringing Up Father. On the right calf was an anchor under a superimposed Cupid. On the right forearm was Helen-Paul over a dove. A butterfly on the right shoulder. On the left forearm was crossed flags. Also on the left forearm were the initials WCG with an arrow through a heart. The tattoos may have suggested a naval background of the victim.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but does anyone know what do the letters "BYS" and "B.V.G." stand for?

I have noticed two separate cases of unidentified persons with these letters tattooed on their arms and I would like to know what the two men have in common.
