'A father of three was shot to death in his own “castle” in Vaughan while trying to “protect his family” from armed intruders.'

'Early Sunday morning, police believe, Abdul Aleem Farooqi, 46, was merely asleep in his Vaughan home with his wife and three children when armed robbers broke into his house and demanded valuables.'

“He was shot while trying to protect his four-year-old daughter who had a gun pointed at her,” said one of his employees at his business.
What happened here is pure evil.''

People are asked to avoid the area during the active investigation and expect a large police presence there Sunday, police said in a social media post.''

''Investigators say the suspects fled through the back door with the family members’ cellphones, two of which were discarded nearby and later seized by police. The suspects remain at large.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Insp. Paolo Fiore said investigators believe the home was “specifically targeted for a robbery,” Fiore said, and the suspects’ motive was “monetary gain only.”

''About 90 minutes later, another home — roughly one kilometre away in a nearby neighbourhood — was the target of a home invasion that saw three armed suspects break in. Police said the two incidents have not been formally linked but that investigators are reviewing evidence for possible connections.''

''Investigators have obtained a special court order to temporarily identify the teen, whom they believe is still in the Greater Toronto Area.
