On April 2, 2025, the Nottawasaga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered an abandoned vehicle that was unlocked with keys and a wallet in the centre console. The vehicle and belongings were registered to a Bernard Smith. Extensive searches were conducted in the location of Smith's vehicle and the surrounding area, but no further evidence was found.
