CORONER’S SERVICE REQUESTS HELP TO I.D. MAN

BURNABY – The B.C. Coroners Service (BCCS) and Richmond RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance to help them identify a male whose remains were found on June 8, 2008 on the shore of the Fraser River South Arm near the western foot of Williams Rd.

The individual likely originated from a community further upstream from where his body was found, such as Abbotsford, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, New Westminster, Richmond or Surrey. The BCCS has determined that he died months or even years before his remains were discovered.

The subject’s ancestry is unknown. He had a medium build and was approximately 170 cm (5ft., 7in.). He wore full upper and lower dentures and was likely between 45 and 55 years of age at the time of his death. The only clothing found was a brown leather deck-style shoe, men’s size 8.5, and a sock labelled “NIKE”.

Please see the Coroners Service website (Case File 2008-0278-0587) to view and download photos of the clothing and a facial reconstruction drawing at: 2008-278-0587 - Province of British Columbia

Please note only the facial proportions of the drawing should be considered for identification as the facial features are an approximation at best.

If you have any information regarding the identity of this male, please contact the B.C. Coroners Service identification tip line at 1-877 660-5077 or Richmond RCMP at 604 278-1212 (Case File 2008-17356) or CRIME STOPPERS 1-800 222-TIPS (8477). The mandate of the B.C. Coroners Service is to ensure that a thorough

I've found the Doe Network file for this case :)
The Doe Network: Case File 1562UMBC

    • Estimated Date of Death: Months-years prior.
    • Estimated age: 45-55 years old
    • Approximate Height and Weight: 5'4" to 5'9"(170cm)
    • Distinguishing Characteristics: Ancestry is Aboriginal/Metis/Inuit. Average build.
    • Clothing: The only clothing found was a brown leather deck-style shoe, men’s size 8.5, and a sock labelled “NIKE”.
    • Dentals: He wore full upper and lower dentures.

The new information is his race, which is now Aboriginal and thankfully there is now DNA, so it's a solvable case! There is also a facial reconstruction posted above.
