Trial of man charged with Mattis Point woman's murder set for 2019 in Saskatchewan

Carol King was 40 years old when she disappeared from her rural home in Herschel, Sask., on Aug. 6, 2011. Three weeks later her body was found on an abandoned property just eight kilometres from her home. Police later confirmed she had been murdered.

It wasn’t until July 2016 when her former boyfriend, Joseph (David) Caissie, then 53, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and offering an indignity to human remains.

Caissie’s trial, before a jury in the Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon, won’t begin until March 4, 2019, but Matthew Miazga said there will be activity taking place before then.

On 4 January 2019 David Cassie was convicted of first-degree murder of Carol King in 2011. He received the mandatory life sentence for first-degree murder, with no parole eligibility for 25 years.
