''Clyde Frost was 80-years-old in January 1999 when he went missing from his Hamilton home, where he lived with his wife Julette Frost and her two daughters. He was last seen on January 23, leaving XXXX. His body was located in Toronto on February 2, 1999, in his Road Trek RV van.

There is no reason for Clyde to have gone missing. It has long been believed that someone who knew him is responsible for this murder.

HPS continues to investigate this matter and a $10,000 reward is available to the person who comes forward with information that leads to an arrest (or arrests).

Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to contact S/Sgt Peter Thom of the Homicide Unit at 905-546-2458.''

''Julette Frost, Clyde’s new wife, was out of the country at the time of his disappearance visiting her ailing father, but Julette’s mother and 16-year-old daughter were reportedly at home the night of January 23, 1999.

Frost’s mother-in-law and stepdaughter reportedly did not hear a disturbance.''

Blood spatter, officially known as Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, is one of the most specialized and sought-after areas of forensic investigation and involves complex applications of biology, physics, and chemistry. It’s not just the patterning of the blood stains that requires analysis. The colour is also important: oxygenated blood moving from the heart looks different when it exits the body than de-oxygenated blood, and both look different from blood platelets. Additionally, the angle of impact between the body and the source of the trauma, the role of gravity on the body, and the natural flow of blood before the injury will affect the pattern of the bloodstain and reveal clues about the position of the victim before, during, and after the attack. While bloodstain pattern analysis is not necessarily new, it has come of age and gotten much more sophisticated over the last ten years. DNA analysis has matured and has showed criminalists how the blood found at a crime scene can tell a story, whether it is the movement of the blood itself as it leaves the body or the cells contained therein.''

even though it's been well over a decade
0:05
since the murder of Clyde frost one of
0:07
the first things the squad wanted to
0:09
establish was the origin of this grape
0:11
stain at the bottom of the stairs in
0:13
Clyde's home and whether or not it was
0:15
in fact blood blood spatter or what's
0:18
officially known as blood stain pattern
0:19
analysis is one of the most
0:21
sophisticated and sought-after areas of
0:24
forensic investigation and involves
0:26
complex applications of everything from
0:27
biology to physics to chemistry it's not
0:31
just the patterning of the bloodstains
0:32
that requires analysis but the color of
0:34
the blood as well for instance
0:36
oxygenated blood moving from the heart
0:39
looks different that when it exits the
0:41
body then deoxygenated blood also the
0:44
angle of impact between the body and the
0:46
source of the trauma like a weapon the
0:48
role of gravity on the body and the
0:50
natural flow of blood before the injury
0:52
will all affect the pattern of the blood
0:54
stain and tell us something about the
0:55
position of the victim and the killer
0:57
before during and after an attack
1:00
well blood stain pattern analysis is not
1:03
necessarily new but has certainly come
1:04
of age and gotten more sophisticated
1:05
over the last 10 years at the same time
1:08
that DNA analysis has matured and taught
1:11
criminalists about the story told by
1:13
blood at a crime scene every bit of
1:15
evidence no matter how minut is just one
1:18
other step towards catching killers
