Whitehorse RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Deanna Bailey, who was reported missing on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Deanna Bailey was last seen on January 20 at around 8:00am in Whitehorse. Deanna's family and police are very concerned for her health and well-being.
Description of Deanna Bailey:

• Caucasian woman
• Age 45
• 5 ft 4 in (1.62 metres)
• Slim build
• Long brown/red hair and green eyes
• May be wearing glasses

Clothing description is unknown but may include a grey toque and black hiking boots.

The Millennium trail is right by the river. Here is a description of it:

This is a pleasant and popular loop along a section of Whitehorse's Millennium Trail, and is part of the Trans-Canada trail. The trail loops alongside the Yukon River, with a bridge near the power plant and fish ladder at the north side. It is generally maintained in the winter time. It is flat and paved, and there are numerous off-shot dirt trails. It is well-marked with km indicators, and there are interpretative signs, overviews, and benches along the way.

ETA: Based on her biography on the Arts Underground page, it seems that she was very much into nature and wildlife.

''Whitehorse RCMP has an active missing person investigation related to Deanna Bailey. Police are in touch with Ms. Bailey's family about the progress in the file. Police are continuing to work with partner agencies and specialized police units, and have appreciated the support that has come from the public and those close to Ms. Bailey.

"We understand how difficult it is to not have answers in a situation like this one," says Whitehorse RCMP Operations NCO Sgt. Jolene Nason. "There are certain investigative steps related to waterways in the area that will have to wait until spring if she is not located before then, in order to ensure the safety of people involved in the search. Everyone involved in this investigation is working towards its resolution."

Investigators believe that Ms. Bailey may have spoken with a man sometime on January 20, 2022, near the trails by the Yukon River. Police hope to follow up with this man, who is not a suspect and is not believed to have been involved in Ms. Bailey's disappearance. He may be able to provide relevant information to police. He is described as being approximately 60 years old, with grey hair, and was driving a maroon vehicle.

When further updates are available, they will be shared with Ms. Bailey's family first, and details will be released to the public / media when appropriate and while respecting the privacy of those involved. Police appreciate how widely information has been shared about this missing person file and the engagement from the public.''

A Whitehorse woman who went missing three years ago is officially presumed dead.

Bailey's common-law spouse, Robert Pharand, filed a petition to the Yukon Supreme Court last year, asking for an official declaration of death. Chief Justice Suzanne Duncan approved the application.
