Four Boys Arrested For Assaulting TTC Employees, Kennedy Road and Merrian Road

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of arrests made in an assault investigation.
On Monday, January 23, 2023, at approximately 3:35 p.m., police received a call for an Assault in the Kennedy Road and Merrian Road area.
It is alleged that:

• there was an altercation between a group of boys on board a TTC bus
• two TTC employees who were on the bus were physically assaulted by the boys
• the group of boys fled the area

Through extensive investigation and review of TTC video surveillance, four male suspects were identified and arrested.
Two 13-year-old boys have been charged with:

1. Assault

Two 13-year-old boys have been charged with:

1. two counts of Assault

They will appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. in room 407.

Suspects who allegedly shot TTC worker with BB gun assaulted another person at Scarborough mall: police

Suspects who allegedly shot a TTC employee with a BB gun last week are believed to be responsible for assaulting another person with a weapon at a Scarborough mall, Toronto police said.

''Police said a passenger in the vehicle allegedly shot the transit worker with an orange-tipped, rifle-style gun that fired small projectiles.
The TTC worker was struck twice, police said. The suspect fled the area in the vehicle.
Police said both victims suffered minor injuries.

He is between 15 and 19 years old and white with a thin build, and wearing all-dark clothing.

Not just one story. In the past month, on national news I’ve seen a toddler swinging a gun, and a six year old shooting a teacher. Locally, in the past year, we’ve had teens shooting up at an amusement park, an Easter celebration, and a funeral. Adults have been assaulted and knocked to the ground in our downtown and Southside area.

Our city’s juvenile detention center closed. The private facilities are full. Juvenile crime is out of control.

Is there a link that shows statistics on the rise or because of the accessibility of social media and 24 hour news, we just hear about it more and more often?

I think people lose sight that things like this have been happening for decades and decades, we just now have it repeated in our face more often so it feels like its worse.
