Canada's Missing | Case details

On October 2, 1970, the remains of a Caucasian male were found along Wellington County Road, near Guelph/Cambridge, Ontario. He had severe osteoarthritis in his lumbar area, which may have been painful. Found in close proximity were a yellow carpenter's pencil and a tin spectacle case. 9 various buttons were found: 1 overcoat button, 1 trouser button, 3 shirt buttons, 4 underwear buttons; and some pieces of fabric that may be from a white shirt and white socks were also recovered. He is believed to have been deceased for approximately 20 years.


Teeth- His teeth were in excellent condition but did have some marked wear.
Height 160cm/ 5 ft 3 in to 165cm/ 5 ft 5 in

Money- Six Canadian and American coins dated 1936-1945
Shoes- OXFORD, Half-soled size 7.5-8
Belt- Leather, Size 32 with a Steer's head buckle
Hat- Grey, FEDORA, Hat band, initials "J.U", "Calhoun's", " Bathersby"

This case seems like one that could really be helped through genetic genealogy. Based on his estimated age of 40-65 and likely time of death in early to mid 1950s makes me wonder if he might have been a WWI veteran. Maybe his service could have contributed to his severe osteoarthritis?
