Helen Sedo was last seen driving a 2012 silver Acura with the license plate CBDY 015
Aug 02, 2020
Helen Sedo, 61, went missing on Wednesday, July 29. She was last seen leaving her residence on Treegrove Circle, near Bathurst Street and St. John's Sideroad. (York Regional Police)
''Police said Helen Sedo was last seen driving a 2012 silver Acura RDX on Wednesday evening when she left her residence on Treegrove Circle, in the area of Bathurst Street and St. John's Sideroad, north of Toronto.

The car has a licence plate of CBDY 015.

"Her family has been trying to get in contact with her and has not been able to reach her or locate her, which is from my understanding very out of character and very concerning to the family." said Const. Laura Nicolle, spokesperson for the York police.

Sedo's son, Michael John Sedo, said his mother packed her bags and left the house "in a bit of an upset state."

"I really hope that nothing bad has happened to her," Sedo said.

"I just can't believe that she would be gone this long without saying something to somebody that she was okay. That's just not my mother."

Michael said his mother is an "avid gardener, loving mother [and] loving daughter."

"She's an amazing person," he said. "I really hope she comes home safe."

Sedo is a 5'1" white woman with dark brown, shoulder-length hair. She wears glasses and was last seen carrying a red and olive-coloured duffel bag.

Nicolle said since Sedo was last seen in a vehicle, the search area is drastically larger and police said they need help from the public.

Anyone with information or has seen Sedo, or her vehicle, is asked to reach out to police.''

'Please, mom, call someone': Distraught son sends message to still missing Aurora woman - NewmarketToday.ca
27 minutes ago

"Please, mom, if you are out there, please call someone ... anyone,” is the desperate plea issued by the son of Helen Sedo, who has been missing from her Aurora home for 10 days.

Snip

“Mom, if you read this I want you to know that I love you very much and that all I want in this world right now is to know you are safe. I understand if you need space and will fully support you in anything you need to be happy! Your grandson needs you, I need you," said her son in a statement issued by police.

Her sibling, too, are sending a message to the deeply missed woman: “We miss you dearly. We are here for you unconditionally. We are desperate. Please contact someone if you are able. You are the glue that keeps our family together. We love you so very much.”

I hope she sees these messages then makes contact soon. You're in our thoughts, Helen.

'On the raggedy edge of losing it': Son of missing Helen Sedo speaks out

Michael Sedo understands the feeling of “wanting the world to go away” and he’s OK if his mother, Helen Sedo, is feeling that way right now.

He just wants to know she’s all right and is begging her to get in touch.

She did leave upset

Michael tells a frightening story that might boggle some people’s minds and be totally relatable to others.

He said his mother, who has only ever left the house in the past for a few hours to cool off, appears to be in a different space this time. However, he stressed the disappearance is extremely out of character.

“My mom comes from a generation that doesn’t talk about mental health problems,” he said, explaining that despite this, before COVID-19, she’d been working on it and chatting with him about her problems. “Being open about it is critical and that’s something she had been doing.”

He said in the past couple of years Helen has been struggling with a series of stressful situations, followed up by emotions resembling depression.

“She struggled with her anger at times, she struggled with staying in a good mood,” he said. “For the last several years, after my grandmother passed, she’s been struggling. My grandfather deteriorated incredibly quickly after (my grandmother’s) death, within a 1.5 years he was in a dementia ward in a retirement home. It was a heavy burden (my mother) took on.

''Michael Sedo understands the feeling of “wanting the world to go away” and he’s OK if his mother, Helen Sedo, is feeling that way right now.
He just wants to know she’s all right and is begging her to get in touch.
Problem is his faith is dwindling, and for good reason.

Helen has not touched base with anyone that he knows of and it’s been one week since she disappeared, seemingly off the face of the earth.''

''It was on July 29 at about 10 p.m. that the 61-year-old fled her Aurora home that she’s lived in for nearly three decades with a small bag packed in her silver 2012 Acura RDX SUV with the licence plate CDBY 015.
She did leave upset.''
''Although detectives involved with the case were unavailable to speak, Michael said one area they have been looking into involves hotels and motels in the Huntsville and Gravenhurst area, where the family have a plot of land.

So far, nothing.''

Eerily reminiscent of the Suzanne Morphew disappearance. Even down to the plea.

It seems odd to me that the son says his mother, who lived in the home for close to three decades, only left the home 'to cool off'. What does that mean? She lived in the house for nearly 30 years but never left unless she was angry? Did she have some kind of agoraphobia? Was she detained against her will unless she got really angry? Did she have a mental illness that no one in the family tried to get her help for?

There's no mention of the father in the son's story yet he says he is mindful of visiting his parents due to Covid-19 so I presume the husband lives in the home with his mother.

How does he know his mother was upset when she left and packed bags if he talked to her 24 hours before? Did his dad call him and tell him about an argument they had and she left? Or that she had some kind of event related to the mental illness that no one seemed to acknowledge? It's very strange.

Based on the size of the trees on the properties, they appear to have been built in the late 90s early 2000s. They are multi-million dollar homes with asking prices around the mid 2 million mark. One just sold on July 31, 2020.

Murder charge laid against 61-year-old man in case of missing woman | National Post

AURORA, Ont. — Police north of Toronto say they’ve laid a murder charge against a 61-year-old man in connection with a woman who went missing over the summer.

They say officers arrested John Sedo last week and believe that Helen Sedo is dead.

Investigators say they’re still looking for the woman’s body.

I figured as much after reading the cryptic comments from the son. Poor woman. Perhaps she didn't go up to her cottage on her own. Perhaps she was taken up there by her spouse.

''Police have found the burned-out hulk of a car belonging to a 61-year-old Aurora woman believed to have been murdered by her husband.

Helen Sedo was last seen near her home on Treegrove Circle in Aurora on July 29.

Police have said repeatedly they believe she is dead.''

''Her body has not yet been located. None of the allegations against John Sedo have been proven in court.

York Regional Police say Helen Sedo’s burned-out 2012 Acura RDX SUV was found last week by roaming hunters in a quarry near Williamsport Road, northeast of Arrowhead Provincial Park, north of the Town of Huntsville.

“Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle or a fire between August and September at the location noted in the map below, to please come forward,” investigators said Thursday. “We are also appealing to anyone who may have trail cameras in the area that captured anything suspicious.”

I have friends who live on Lake of Bays. There are so many little roads around that area leading to many cottages, some that are quite remote from main roads.

Lake of Bays is exactly like it sounds: a lake that's comprised of many bays and inlets that make it feel much more remote than it really is. There's not a lot of cameras on any of the roads since it is so sparsely populated.

If the Sedo's have a cottage on that lake they probably also have a little runabout boat. It's a pretty quiet lake so there's not many uber fast boats there. She could be anywhere in the lake.
