Ian was last seen by a family member leaving his home on Manor Lane in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on October 22nd, 1984.
He was driving his vehicle, a red 1978 Plymouth Horizon TC3 hatchback with a black interior and Nova Scotia license plate 57-34-81, which is also still missing.
A blue ten-speed bicycle was in the back of Ian's car at the time of his disappearance. The front wheel of the bike had been removed.
He told his family member that he was going to meet some friends, possibly at the former Palace nightclub on Brunswick Street, Halifax, but has not been seen by family or friends since that time.
He was reported missing three days later at 11 p.m. on Oct. 25, 1984.
Ian was around 19-20 years old, one source states his DOB as December 12, 1962. Another includes Dec. 19 and the year 1963.
He had recently graduated from a welding course in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and moved to Halifax in July 1984. He was employed in his trade for two weeks at the time.
