He looks a lot like this John Doe

Yes he does - stats, clothing, PMI, etc are all workable. Biggest hurdle for me is the call to his sister with plans and the distance between recovery of the body and last seen location - some almost 1800 miles. Having said that, I still believe this should be reviewed by the authorities.

Hmmm ... I just looked where the UID thread was updated with this possibility - wasn't aware of the full dentures, multiple sets of clothing, etc - that wasn't on the Canada site that I saw. Anyway, dentals would be an easy rule-out.

''In an effort to crack a decades-long cold case, police are circulating a photo of a Toronto man believed to have disappeared after visiting a tavern in the city's Gay Village more than 40 years ago.
Naif Rashid, who police say was also known as ‘John,’ went missing on the evening on Jan. 15, 1982. He is believed to have attended the Gasworks Tavern, formerly located in the area of Yonge and Dundonald streets, before he disappeared, the Toronto Police Service (TPS) said in a release issued Monday.
Rashid, who lived near Weston and St. Phillips roads in Toronto, was last seen wearing a brown waist length bomber style leather jacket, blue jeans and a navy blue long-sleeved sweater, police said.''

''Today, Rashid would be 76 years old.

Police said the family does not have a formal statement to provide, but is the "driving force" behind the case. Rashi'd brother has been actively involved in the search effort, they said.

“[Rashid’s brother has expressed] the need for closure after 41 years as a number of family members have passed away since [Rashid's] disappearance,” a spokesperson for the service said.

Despite four decades passing since Rashid went missing, investigators with Toronto police’sHomicide and Missing Persons Unit “remain actively committed to solving this case,” the release reads.

“The hope is that the new release will jog someone’s memory that knows something and will come forward with information.”

''Rashid was born in Israel and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 20. He began working as a general labourer, which is how he met his wife. The couple had no children and police say there is no record of him ever returning to Israel.

"The hope is that the news release will jog someone's memory that may know something and will come forward with information," Det. Const. Marisa Hamilton said in a statement.

"Unfortunately Naif disappeared without a trace," she said.

A number of Rashid's family members have passed away since his disappearance, Hamilton said, and his brother is now seeking closure. Rashid would be 76 years old today.

Rashid is described as five feet, 10 inches tall, about 150 pounds with black wavy hair, brown eyes, a black moustache, and a deep voice. He was last seen wearing a brown, bomber-style leather jacket, blue jeans and navy blue long-sleeved sweater.
