Purdy was last seen in Red Deer, Alberta on the morning of August 22, 1999. He left his residence on Cameron Crescent to visit his brother in Sylvan Lake about 30 km away, but never arrived.
His Dodge pickup truck was found abandoned in a gravel pit near the west bank of the Red Deer River, just north of the city. His sunglasses, keys, and drivers license were located in the vehicle but the stereo was missing. He has never been seen or heard from again. Purdy may have been traveling back to Nova Scotia, but his whereabouts remain unknown.

- Clothing & Personal Items: Driving glasses. White and grey cotton sweatshirt. Blue denim jeans. Blue and white running shoes.
