On Sunday, November 17, 1985, at about 2:15 a.m., police responded to an emergency call at 295 Jarvis Street.

The victim was discovered inside the Inglewood Arms Hotel, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.''

There are some archived news paper articles on her as well but I am unable to post them. I went to school with her and remember this well. There were quite a few workers who were murdered in the late 80's early 90s.

(20+) Ontario Cold Cases - Posts | Facebook - has some old news articles which report her as a prostitute. That would explain why LE didn't care about her murder.

Looks like the hotel was torn down and new condos built there. So much for any latent evidence.

TERROR ON THE STROLL: Scores of Toronto sex worker slayings unsolved

It had become a seedy haven for hookers, junkies and others to whom life had meted out unconscionable cruelty and lousy luck.''

On Nov. 17, 1985, an unseasonably warm Sunday, with clear skies, 18-year-old Lorelei Brose would enter the low-rent dowager of a hotel, Room 121, and never be seen alive again. When cops arrived, they found Brose shot to death.

The formerly devout Jehovah’s Witness from North Bay has now been dead for 37 years. Her case remains unsolved.

Det. Sgt. Steve Smith — head of the Toronto Police Cold Case Unit — told The Toronto Sun that there are around 30 unsolved sex worker murders in the city. Most are from the 1980s and 1990s.

“We have DNA in virtually every one of these murders, but none of the suspects are linked through the system,” Smith said.''

I went to school with Lorelei and remember her well. I hope they can solve this, so sad.

This case reminds me of some of the U.K. Yorkshire Ripper's victims. I do not think detectives should assume the victims were sex workers or loose women since that description prevented surviving victims of the Yorkshire Ripper from stepping forward out of fear that people would assume they were prostitutes. His victims were women he found traveling alone at night and yes, some of them were prostitutes he pretended he was going to pay for sex but killed them and took back the money he gave them. However, I would say about half of his victims were never proven to be prostitutes. I hope they focus on the details of the case instead of the assumptions related to the victim's character and find the person responsible--nobody deserves to die like that.
