Police say her bike and helmet — which were reported missing from her home — were located by a family member near the airport along Highway 102 on Oct. 1. Despite the discovery, RCMP say there was nothing to indicate the teen had been involved in a collision.

Ugh. When I see cases like this, it always makes me think that the girl may have been in contact with someone online. Maybe she met up with someone.

She was living at her grandfather's home on the outskirts of Enfield when she left during the night.

”She had just started a new school," said her mother, Kelly Eagles. "She was really excited about it, really engaged."

Mackenzie has a long history of running away, her mother said, but would never go far from home. She would typically disappear for a night or two, and often would be in touch with her friends.

Kelly Eagles, Mackenzie’s mother, says she received a phone call from her daughter shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Eagles says her daughter was located in Dartmouth and it’s believed she was in the Halifax Regional Municipality for the last three weeks.
