Found Deceased Canada- Maria Jagiello, 65, Welland, Ont. (went for walk did not return) 28 Feb 2021

Sadly, the body in the Welland River was Maria Jagiello.

“Foul play was not a factor in Jagiello's death, police say.”
and
“Niagara police say they will refrain from releasing any further information out of respect for the woman's next of kin.”

So sad!

Though there wasn’t a whole lot of articles or details put out about Maria, I felt a connection to her due to her age and the fact that she was a regular walker; I walk/hike daily, too.

My heart goes out to her loved ones.

I'm just coming to this thread now. Sorry to hear the outcome.

But, I'm reminded that even if we go for a short solo walk, to let someone know our intended route or options we might take on the route. If you live alone, jot it down with the time you left home and leave it on your table. Sounds overly cautious, but could help if ever needed.
